FAQ

1 - ABOUT LEATHER

‍• How is leather thickness and weight measured?

Leather thickness is generally measured in millimeters and is usually given as a range, such as 0.9 to 1.1mm or 1.0 to 1.2mm, due to the inherent variability of the material. We can provide the suitable thickness based on clients’ requirements for different purposes.(Note: This part is only mentioning thickness and not weight.)

• How do I convert fabric yards and square meters to square feet?

Leather is sold by the square foot, or square meters, and is a natural material with each hide being unique and varying in size. The fact that leather is irregularly shaped causes wastage that is left over after cutting away the desired shapes. The industry has a developed a standard formula for converting fabric yardage to leather square footage, with the waste factor already taken into account: 1 linear yard of the standard 54-inch wide fabric = 18 square feet of leather.

If you know your yardage requirement, multiple that number by 18 to obtain your leather square footage requirement.

This is a general rule of thumb. However, as each leather article is different, please use this information purely for estimation. AURY Leather is not and will not be held responsible for over or underestimation.

Converting Square Meters to Square Feet.

1 square meter = 10.764 square feet

To convert Square Meters to square feet, multiply the number of square meters by 10.764.

‍• What is the difference between a sample for approval and a cutting for approval?

Samples for Approval (SFAs) are cuttings from our hides, of which the production lot is not specific. These should be used as an indication of the leather type and color only.

Cuttings for Approval (CFAs) are actual pieces cut from the current dye lot. These should be a closer match to what will be shipped on your order

• What is the typical yield? How much waste should be expected?

Yield and waste will vary upon the application of leather and its origin. Leather typically has slightly more wastage than fabric, but there are multiple factors involved including the type of leather and size of hide‍

2  - ABOUT AURY

• What does AURY stand for?

We stand behind the workmanship and integrity of our products. AURY’s products are made to the highest standards under stringent quality control.

Our products are guaranteed against manufacturing and material defects. If a manufacturing defect occurs in one of our products within one year of purchase and an assessment at an independent lab confirms that the product is defective, we will gladly exchange or repair the product.

Please keep in mind that leather will wear from use over a period of time and distress is common for leather products. This is not a defect in the product. We cannot guarantee items against everyday wear and tear.

‍3 - ABOUT PRICING

‍• How do I get a price for the products displayed on your website?

We would be happy to send you the prices for individual products. Please contact us and let us know the leather products you would like us to quote you for.

‍• How is leather measured and sold?

Our leather is sold by the square meters or square feet (ft2).

1 square meter = 10.764 square foot. Leather is measured by placing the hide through electronic measuring machines to determine their surface area to the quarter of a square foot. The hide is then stamped with the measurement as 50.00, 50.1, 50.2, and 50.3 on the hide which actually equate to 50.00, 50.25, 50.50, and 50.75 ft2.

4 - ABOUT ORDERING

‍• How do I place an order?

Please contact us and let us know the leather products of your interest. We’ll send you a quotation of our best price based on the ordered quantity and your preferred shipping method.

‍• What is the minimum order quantity?

The minimum amount that can be ordered is one hide. For perforated leathers, the minimum is one full hide.

‍• I need a special color – Can you match it?

Just send us a sample of what color you are trying to match, and we will send you the closest matches from our 1000+ in-stock colors. We can also produce a custom match for your approval (minimum quantities apply).

‍• How long will it take for my order to proceed?

If the leather is in stock, the order will be processed within 24-48hrs, depending on the complexity of the order and the volume of orders being processed at that time.

We also offer to combine multiple orders and ship them together on a pre-arranged basis to reduce overall shipping costs.

‍• Can I reserve leather?

Upon request, we will hold your specified quantity for ten business days, given that the inventory is available at that time.

‍• What amount of overestimation should be expected?

AURY attempts to keep overestimation to under 10% as a general rule, but it’s usually less for larger orders.

However, as we do not cut hides beforehand and each hide size is unique, overestimation can sometimes exceed 10%, particularly for small order quantities.

Based on your specific order details, AURY can meet your requirements by using specified minimum and maximum thresholds.

‍7 - OTHER PROBLEMS

• Why does my sample look different from the one on your website?

For color differences, this is often due to the calibration of your computer screen, though it may also be a result of dye lot variation for some leathers.

Texture variation in some leathers is typically due to where the sample was cut from the hide. In this case, large grain will appear near the edge of the hide, whereas small grain will appear towards the center of the hide.

Why does my hide look different from the one on your website?

The website catalog should only be used as a listing of the leathers that we provide. Many kinds of leather, such as aniline leathers, will vary in color between production lots.

Hence, for our aniline and semi-aniline leathers, we do recommend that you obtain a Cutting for Approval (CFA) prior to placing your order so that you know exactly what to expect from the current dye lot.‍

• Who should I contact if I receive the wrong product or have a problem with my order?

Please contact our customer service department at info@auryvietnam.com with your order’s details (PO, Packing Slip) along with photos of the issue. You can also call us directly at {phone number}, but we will then ask you to provide pictures via email.

‍• What will you do to make sure I’m satisfied with my purchase?

We take pride in the quality of our products and stand behind the workmanship of each one. To ensure your satisfaction, all shipments are carefully inspected before leaving our warehouse.
